Abner Leonard Watson Jr, age 90 passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in Red Oak, Texas. He was born February 6, 1928 in Delight, Arkansas to the late Carrie Juanez Miller Watson and Abner Leonard Watson Sr. Mr. Watson spent almost 21 years in the military and is a retired Master Sargent of the USAF. He is a veteran of WWII with the Army's occupational force of Japan. He is also a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars with the Air Force. Mr. Watson received the Bronze Star for his meritorious service during his second tour in Vietnam. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the engineering department of Wadley Hospital in Texarkana for 21 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Juanez (Miller) Watson and Abner Leonard Watson Sr.; two sisters, Juanez Lamb and Kathryn Walsh. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Mae Brandon Watson; one son, Buddy Watson of Waxahachie, TX; one daughter, Shannon Watson Brown and husband Charles of Lancaster, TX; two grandsons, Charles Travis Brown and Christopher Ian Brown and number of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday, January 25, 2019 at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville. Graveside service will be 2:00 Friday, January 25, 2019 at Delight Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville. After the graveside service, desserts and coffee will be served for family and friends at Pisgah Church of Christ hosted by Regina Crocker and Sharon Hawkins.
