Helen Stell

March 20, 1932 — September 26, 2019

Helen Ruth Howard Stell went home to glory on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Her parents, "Happy" and Nancy Stockton Howard welcome her along with her husband of 50 years Donald "Sonny" Stell. Helen was devoted to her family and a member of the Antoine Church of Christ. Treasured by her gone on brothers: Felix Howard, Tommy Lee Howard, Doyle Howard, Jr, and sisters: Willie Glen "Doodler" Dowdle, and Evelyn Sue Roberts and all who knew her, because her love had legs. She had a heart like Jesus for the down trodden and mentally misunderstood. Her own poems and stories and memories are preserved in her beautiful penmanship to keep us inspired. She was the family documentarian: this lady could take a polaroid picture. An avid reader who loved leaning on the Lord. Born March 20, 1932 and raised in Smyrna & Okolona, farm life built her character. Hard work was just part of her. She was a basketball player growing up and the love of the game never left her. She attended every possible ball game her nieces and nephews, and the next few generations of nieces and nephews, played. Helen's great talent was compassion. She was astute in human nature. She could size up people & list their strengths better than they could, leaving a lasting impression. Helen absolutely loved living in Antoine. Her castle saw many a jug of the sweetest tea, green beans with more bacon grease than beans, and so many happy family Thanksgiving meals! She had expensive taste in shoes and horses and goes to her grave happy. This classy, elegant lady will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Delight Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M., until service time, Sunday, September 29, at Delight Church of Christ. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M, Sunday, September 29, at Delight Church of Christ, burial to follow in Delight Cemetery.
