Billy Joe Williams, age 66, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas Texas. He was born August 14, 1957 in Hot Springs, Arkansas the son of the late Vernie Williams and Helen Campbell Williams.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as s Sunday School teacher, van driver, and V.B.S worker. Billy served in the United States Army for three years, the United States Army Reserves for thirty years retiring with the rank of E8/Master Sgt., and was with the Arkansas Forestry Commission for thirty years.
Billy loved the outdoors whether hunting, fishing, or firefighting, he was in his element out in nature.
In 2015 Billy was diagnosed with IPF (Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) and the following year he was the recipient of a double lung transplant at Baylor. Due to the gift of organ donation Billy was given eight more years with his wife Dianna. He was a very strong advocate for organ donation.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son William Williams and a brother Jimmy Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dianna Williams of Murfreesboro, AR; one brother Bobby Williams of Alexander, AR; one sister LaVerne Arledge and husband Burl of Hope, AR; three nephews, five nieces, and several grand nieces and grand nephews; sister in law Pam Smith and husband Jeff of Hope, AR; and brother in law Gene Ward of DeAnn, AR.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
Cremation services will be under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
