Charles Ivan Erwin

January 11, 1923 — March 23, 2023

Charles Ivan Erwin, age 100, of Nashville, Arkansas died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at a Texarkana nursing home.  He was born January 11, 1923 in Pike County, Arkansas to the late Forrest E. and Ella Bell Erwin.

Mr. Erwin was of the Baptist faith.  Charles served in the United States Army in the draft system and the regular Army in the volunteer system.  He was a farmer and rancher by trade for many years with his brother, Rudolph.  Their main crops were hay and cotton and they raised mixed breed cattle.  Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  He always had a story to tell about a past hunt or fishing trip.  He loved to pass down stories and visit with his nieces and nephews.  He loved to watch old westerns, news, and sports on TV when he could no longer hunt and fish.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents as well as six brothers and three sisters, Survetus, Carlis, Hollis, Hoyle, Edwin, Rudolph, Lovenia, Edna, and Dorothy.

He is survived by two sisters Estha Rasco and Billie Turley as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Ozan Cemetery at Bingen, with Bro. Tim Freel officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

His family would like to thank the staff and friends at Bentley Nursing and Rehab of Texarkana and Enhabit Hospice for the excellent care given to him for the past two months.
