Dennis Ray Horn passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of devotion to his family, faith, community, and education.Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Earle and Virginia Dennis Horn; his adoptive parents, Jim and Nelly Cowling; his brother, Jim Horn, and his two sisters, Gladys West and Autherene Peek;

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 70 years, Martha Humphrey Horn; his son, Tony Horn (Teresa); his daughters, Kim (Roy) Conrad and Tara (Greg) Doyle; his grandchildren, Chad (Amanda) Horn, Adam (Sarah) Horn, Carley Conrad, Cayden (Ashton) Conrad, and Hannah Doyle; and his great-grandchildren, Haylie Horn, Cole Giompoletti, Graham Horn, Kallen Horn, Kiptin Horn, Casey Conrad, and Campbell Conrad.He is also survived by his twin sister, Doris Osieczanek; sister-in-law, Barbara Claybourne; brothers, Jerry (Debbie) and Eugene Horn; sister-in-law, Sarah Horn; a very special cousin, Jason Ray Horn; and a host of nieces and nephews.Dennis graduated from Nashville High School in 1955. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1959, and later earned a Master of Science in Education from Henderson State University in 1965.Dennis devoted his professional life to education and to the Nashville Scrappers. Throughout his career, he served as a teacher, coach, junior high principal, and senior high principal, touching the lives of generations of students, athletes, teachers, and families. His commitment to Nashville schools continued through several terms of service on the Nashville School Board.His dedication to education and his community was recognized many times throughout his life. Dennis was named Arkansas Administrator of the Year in 1988, received the Orange & Black Award in 2003, and, in 2025, was inducted into the Hall of Honor—an especially fitting recognition of a man who gave so much of his life to the Nashville Scrappers and their community.Away from school, Dennis enjoyed the simple things that meant the most to him: fishing, mowing, and, above all, spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of Sunset Church of Christ, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

The family would like to express a very special thank-you to Betsy McJunkins, truly an angel on earth, and to Heather Willis and Jessica Clayborn, whose loving care and devotion made them part of the family.Dennis will be remembered not only for the positions he held or the honors he received, but for the countless lives he influenced along the way. His love for his family, his dedication to education, his loyalty to the Nashville Scrappers, and his years of service to his community leave a legacy that will continue for generations.His was a life well lived, a family deeply loved, and a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville, with Karon Baxley and Richard Johnson officiating, burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
