Helen Ruth White

Helen Ruth Roland White, 82, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Nashville, AR, after a prolonged illness. She was born March 19, 1928, in Hale Center, TX, the daughter of Albert Martin Roland and Artie Mae Adcock Roland. Her ancestors were among the first permanent settlers in the New World, at Jamestown, Virginia, and later settled Texas before it became a United States territory. For most of her life she was a farmer and homemaker, living near the Nathan and Bingen communities, in Howard County. She was an avid gardener and liked to travel. In recent years she visited historic Jamestown and Williamsburg, Virginia; Palm Springs and Los Angeles, CA, and Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as family home sites in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. In 1947 she married William Martin â�œPeteâ₝ White, who preceded her in death on October 12, 1973. Together they had ten children, seven of whom survive her; Shirley Ann White of Nashville, AR, Albert David White of Bingen, AR, Bobby White and Darlene Kniceley of Center Point, AR, Rodney White of Nathan, AR, Dena White of Inland Empire, CA and Treasa White of Prescott, AR. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Martin White, her son, Billy Hiram White and two stillborn children, Terry Keith White and Gladys Mae White. Her surviving grandchildren are Leslie Roberts of McCaskill, AR Krista White Mitchell of Highland, AR, Keith White of Weatherford, TX, Melissa White of Hot Springs, AR, Sara White Pace of Nathan, AR, Rodney â�œBuddyâ₝ White of Wichita, KS, Kristopher White of Piscataway, NJ and Joseph Merchant of Nashville, AR. Her grandson David Evan White preceded her. She has a number of great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 23, at Corinth Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
