Hershel Thomas Simmons

Hershel Thomas Simmons of Kirby, Arkansas, passed away on August 20, 2026 at his home at the age of 85. He was born to Tom and Elsie Golden Simmons on September 10, 1940 in Kirby, Arkansas.

Mr. Simmons was a member of the Mt. Joy Freewill Baptist Church. He worked in the log woods all of his life and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Billy Simmons, as well as three brothers, Jack Simmons, R.T. Simmons and Boyce Simmons.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mary “Patsy” Simmons of Kirby; two sons, Johnny Simmons and wife, Shelia, of Nashville and Danny Simmons of Kirby; two grandchildren, brandi White and husband Brad of Texarkana, Texas and Brittany Morrow and husband, Jared of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Emery, Blakely and Amelia Morrow and Braden and Brookly White; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the Mt. Joy Freewill Baptist Church near Daisy. Interment will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
