Homer Lee York

Homer Lee York, 73, lost his lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease and other health issues on September 2. He was born March 20, 1952, to Isaac Homer York and Fern Inez Rettmann York in Nashville.

He is pre-deceased by his parents; grandparents Dock and Cecil York and Victor and Hazel Rettmann all of Nashville; his in-laws Howard and Charlotte Boatman of Fulton; nephew Jim Pruden; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins from both the York and Rettmann families.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Linda Boatman; son Kevin Lee York, wife Donna Conatser York, and their son Jaxon, all of Nashville, sister Twyla York Pruden, husband Jerry Pruden, of Hope, and son Isaac Pruden of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Pam Boatman Horton of Fulton; niece Jennifer Northcutt Tussey, husband Terry Tussey and children Cali, Emilee and Ava of Texarkana. Late in life, Homer was blessed with “bonus” granddaughters and their families, Autumn Jeanes Ledesma, Aaron Ledesma, and children Clayton, Scarlett, Riley of Mineral Springs; and Crystal “Krissy” Jeanes, Mo Milam, children Will, Waylon, Emma Kate, and Everleigh of Horatio. Homer was “Pop Pop” to all the little ones.

He is also survived by two uncles, James and Virginia Rettman of Oregon and Ed Rettman of Wyoming, as well as a great number of cousins.

A 1970 graduate of Nashville High School, Homer attended Southern State College to study agriculture and later received certificates in basic refrigeration and basic electricity from Cossatot Vocational Technical School. He found his vocation in electrical maintenance and worked 11 years at Tyson in Nashville and 36 years at Firestone in Prescott before failing health and disability caused him to retire.

Homer grew up in Center Methodist Church in Longview community, but in recent years attended Cross Point Cowboy Church in the same community west of Nashville.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, at Bluff Springs Cemetery, with Bro. Don Jones officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Memorials given to the following would be greatly appreciated by Homer’s family – The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Parkinson’s Foundation; American Cancer Society Kidney Foundation or American Kidney Fund; Liver Transplant Institute at Methodist Health System Foundation, Dallas, TX, – all can be found online; or to any church or charity of choice.
