Jesse Clovis Bagwell, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, was born July 16, 1933, and passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 21, 2025.
Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he worked as a cook and provided meals and comfort to his fellow servicemen.
After returning home, he began a long and dedicated career with GM Motors. He retired after 32 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
In retirement, Jesse devoted himself to the things he loved most—his family, his Arkansas Razorbacks, and his gardens. He became well known in the community for the huge gardens he grew each year, and especially for his tomatoes, which earned him a reputation as a master gardener and a generous neighbor. He also played a mean game of dominoes, and many family and friends will fondly remember the fun and laughter gathered around the table with him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Mary “Bobbie” Bagwell, who passed away in 2004, as well as his sons Doug, Luther, and Sammy.
Jesse is survived by his children Terri, Randy (Angie), Mary, Judy, and Johnetta; and by his grandchildren Zach, Frankie (Quincy), Jarred (Peyton), Allison, and Paige.
Jesse will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication, and the simple but meaningful ways he enriched the lives of those around him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 in Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro.
