Joe Thomas Wright, 70, of Nathan, Arkansas went home to be with our Lord on April 1, 2026. While our hearts grieve his loss and we will miss him deeply, we will rejoice in the assurance that he now healed and in heaven. He was a man whose goals were not on earthly treasures but measured his wealth in relationships: the summers of lake adventures tubing with grandchildren, neighbors who knew he would always stop to help and coworkers that counted on him daily. Joe was a man of quiet strength, hard work and enduring love.
Joe was born in Weed, California on May 12, 1955, the fifth son of the late Clell and Lois (Tiny) Wright. He accepted JESUS as his savior as a teenager at the Church of Christ in Nathan, Arkansas and was an alumni of Murfreesboro High School. Joe spent 40 years as a professional truck driver and13 years as a yard supervisor at Tyson Foods in Nashville, Arkansas where he was respected and beloved by his coworkers whom he considered friends. Those who knew him best will remember him by his love for his family, friends, beloved dogs and his outstanding work ethic.
Joe married his wife Janie in 1988. They have two children, Laura Buchanan, husband Scotty, of Wake Village, Texas and the late Kyle Thomas Wright. Joe is survived by one brother, Ted Wright, of Highland, Arkansas and proceeded in death by five brothers, Dave, Dennis, Timothy, Jim and Phillip Wright. Joe has six grandchildren: Ashlee Kemp of Bryant, Arkansas, Michael Buchanan of Minnesota, Terra Bryant of Emory, Texas, Cameron Buchanan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Eric Jackson of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and Bryan Buchanan of Casper, Wyoming. He is blessed with a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
He is loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed until we rejoice together with our Lord.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 6, at Academy Cemetery, with Bro. Damian Rogers officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
