Lois May Ellis, age 80, of Murfreesboro, AR, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Nashville Nursing Center. She was born April 17, 1929 in Highland, AR, the daughter of the late William and Maggie Thompson Stewart. She was a member of First Christian Church. She volunteered with the First Christian Church Pre-school and was active with the Murfreesboro Senior Citizens Center. In 1995 she was chosen as the Citizen of the year by the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce. In 1996 the Central Arkansas Development Council awarded her Outstanding Volunteer Award for service at the Murfreesboro Senior Adult Center. In 1984 she was presented a plaque for 30 years of service in the United Methodist Children's Department. She was preceded in death by her husband Troy Lee Ellis; brother James Harold Stewart and sister Virginia Swan. Survivors include her three daughters Gloria Ann Hill of Idaho Falls, ID, Linda Wilcox of Nashville, AR, Lois Marie Gauthier of Murfreesboro, AR; one sister Bernell Daigle of Rogers, AR; one grand-daughter Christine Lunsford of Texarkana, AR; as well as many friends and relatives. Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 27, 2009 at First Christian Church in Murfreesboro with burial in Murfreesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Family Life Center, the Murfreesboro Senior Citizen Center or the Murfreesboro Cemetery.
