Luther Rector Woodruff

Luther Rector “Woody” Woodruff, 94, passed away on November 23, 2024 in Little Rock, AR.Son of Luther Calvin Woodruff and Clara Meleese (Stokes), he was born April 23, 1930 in Center Point, AR. After high school, Woody served in the Korean War as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Afterword he found his passion in the United States Marine Corps serving as a Drill Instructor at Parris Island. Not known for being idle, Woody was driven by an amazing work ethic. His third, and final, retirement was from Parkway Village in Little Rock at the age of 89 after serving in security for 20 years. Woody was proceeded in death by his parents and four younger brothers. 

He was survived by the love of his life, Bettye Jackson Woodruff of Cabot, AR; their children: son James Anthony “Tony” Woodruff of North Little Rock, AR and wife Karen, daughter Tauna Woodruff of Nashville, TN, and daughter Mary Woodruff Bryan of Cabot, AR and husband Greg. Woody was also Papaw to Christopher Bryan (wife Joanna and son Bentley), Matthew Woodruff (son Valek), Caitlin Moore (husband Taylor and daughters Allison and Maddison), and Jacob Elrod. Woody remained active his entire life. He enjoyed football and baseball games, playing cards and dominoes, and playing golf. His personality and presence could fill a room. He could sit and tell stories for hours and had a mischievous nature that endeared him to those who knew him best. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., until service time Saturday, November 30, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, at Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
