Martha June Tinsley Fontaine passed away on May 11, 2026. She was 97. The daughter of Tella and Martha Young Tinsley she was born in Nashville on June 2, 1928.
Her sister Marjorie Clark was with her when she passed. Her sister Hattie and brothers Arthur(Dougan), Huey and Billy Jack all preceded her.
Except for a few years in California and Texas, she lived in Howard County and Nashville most of her life. Her friends and family called her June. Many remember her as the smiling face they saw at “Woody's” in Mineral Springs. She was married to Thomas Fontaine from 1946 until 1971.
Four of her five children survive her: Thomas, James, Roy, and Kenneth. Their daughter Marlyn passed away last year after a long illness. Her great joy was her grandchildren: Gary, George, Jennifer, Stephanie, Charles, Elizabeth, Hannah, Jason, Kayla, Joya and Kathleen(Whitney). Her twenty-one Great Grand children and five Great Great Grandchildren were a constant source of pride. Her love and memories of gathering together enjoying her cakes, pies, and sweet country cooking live on in our hearts.
