Antoine

Martha Dean Gentry, age 82 of Antoine, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at a Little Rock hospital unexpectedly. She was born July 7, 1944 to the late Lemmer M. and Lucille Whisenant Lockeby.

She was a member of the church of Christ in Antoine, AR. She worked at the Delight Public Schools and continued her service with Murfreesboro Public School. She worked in the lunch room for a short while, later becoming a Paraprofessional along with driving a bus. She retired after 46 years of service to many children of the area.

She and her husband Gary spent much of their time sharing their love of hunting and camping in the deer woods. She wanted so much to kill that big buck, but when the chance came, she was so excited she missed the shot. As much as she loved to hunt, she loved her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. She would get so excited each time a new baby was born. She couldn’t wait to hold each one.

You never had to worry about going hungry around Martha. You would get up to homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy. Plus, all the other foods to go with them. She was going to make sure you ate very well, especially at Thanksgiving. Everyone wanted her dressing and oh the chocolate and the pecan, and the pumpkin pies. If you missed her for a bit, you would find her with her word search puzzles hard at work trying to find every word.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carlos Lockeby; three sisters, Marie McBryde, Fannie Stone, and Frances Lewallen.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years (63 years in October), Gary Gentry of Antoine, Arkansas; three children, Terri (Robby) Chafin, Ashdown, AR, Regenia Foreman, Antoine, AR, and Brandon Gentry of Antoine.

Grandchildren: Morgan (Monte) Elam, Searcy, AR, Dalton (Anniellynn) McRae, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX, Madison Foreman (Kody Dickerson) Gurdon, AR, and Karlie (Josh) Uchtman, Arkadelphia, AR, and Makenna Chafin, Arkadelphia, AR.

Great-grandchildren: Cali, Maci, Eli, Aiden, and Ian Elam; Lane Dickerson; Daliah McRae, and Jameson Uchtman.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Antoine Cemetery, with Bro. Brent Alexander officiating.

Visitation will immediately follow at the Antoine Community Building.
