Maxine Brooks, age 89 of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, passed away on May 14, 2026 in Murfreesboro. She was born on June 11, 1936 in Ruston, Louisiana to the late Andrew and Alice Mae Brooks.
Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. She loved working in her yard, collecting rocks from all her travels, as well as visiting with others. She was very social and outspoken; she never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Virginia Dunn and Juanita Franklin; her brother, A.L. Brooks, Jr.; and her two sons, Russell Robert “Rusty” Nettles and Michael Guy Nettles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Robin Dildy; two grandchildren, Michelle Nettles and Michael Nettles; two great-grandchildren Rayne Gosney and Grant Kosters; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Rodney Fagan officiating. Interment will follow in Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro.
