Michael Shawn Carey, 42, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Hot Springs on May 7, 1983, to the late Kenneth and Judy Carey.
He was also preceded in death by three uncles, Danny Crews, John Rose and Jimmy Rhodes.
He was a lifetime resident of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and where he also attended school. He attended Harvest Time Assembly. He was Michael “the fix-it man” to many but his favorite title was “Pappy”. He dearly loved all his kids, as well as his large close-knit family.
He truly loved being a Dad. He was very proud of his kids. He loved cooking for everyone and taking them fishing. Fishing was his favorite past time along with watching the Razorbacks. He worked at JA Riggs CAT for twenty-five years and they were his second family.
On September 3, 2011, he met his great love, Sirena. They married on September 3, 2014, and had a wonderful almost 15 years together. He also left behind: one brother Kenny Carey and wife Fawn of Nathan. A niece and a nephew, Justen and Shiann Carey of Nathan; five children Baylee Carey of Russellville, Lucas Carey of Murfreesboro, Jake Kemp of Haskell, Josie Kinnu of Murfreesboro, and Jonathan Kinnu and wife Amanda of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren Landon Adams of Glenwood, Anita Faye Kinnu of Murfreesboro, Ripley Ray Kinnu of Murfreesboro; three step grands: Hailey Parks, Emerson and Axel Thompson. One new-born great grand, Daxton Ray Parks; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. To know Michael was to love him. He could turn any frown “upside down”.
