Peggy Nell Parson Manning, age 83 of Umpire, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Blossoms of Dierks. She was born on June 7, 1943 in Athens, the daughter of the late Jimmie and Inez Parson.
Peggy worked as a switchboard operator for Weyerhaeuser in Dierks, AR for many years. She later worked for and retired from the US Postal Service. She loved sports and was an Umpire Wildcats basketball player and enjoyed watching all 3 of her kids do the same. She loved her family and always took very good care of them. She loved to type and to go walking. She loved to go to Church and she loved to sing. She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jimmie and Inez Parson, Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her husband, Don Manning, and her only sister Patty Parson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three children and their spouses: Charles Manning and his wife, Tina, of Alexander, AR, Carla Reid and her husband, Donnie, of Athens, AR and Cheyne Manning and his wife, Rikki, of Umpire, AR; Six Granddaughters: Vanessa (Brian) Sampson of Benton, AR, Alden Manning (DeWayne Fox) of Hot Springs, AR, Kyla (Justin) Gilbert of Kirby, AR, Sarah (Carlton) Norris of Little Rock, AR, Caleigh Manning of Fayetteville, AR and Faith (Cassi) McCauley of New Hope, AR; Four Great-Grandchildren: Rylee Cobb of Alexander, AR, Alexis Sampson of Benton, AR, Keidan Gilbert of Kirby, AR and Eliza Jane Norris of Little Rock, AR; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at the Athens Church of Christ.
Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Athens Church of Christ with Scott Kitchens, Michael Howard and Brian Finn officiating. Interment will follow in Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
