Susan Virginia Schaal Hartness

Susan Virginia Schaal Hartness, age 79 of Mineral Springs, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in Texarkana. She was born September 4, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Oma and Russell Widmer.

Mrs. Hartness was a member of Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs. During her career she was a school teacher, teaching at Mineral Springs, Nashville, Siloam Springs, and De Queen Public Schools. But more importantly she was a dedicated and loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Jerry Schaal and brother Albert Widmer.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Hartness; two sons Henry Schaal, George Schaal and wife Christine; one daughter Mary Schaal; one sister Catherine Price; two grandsons Wilson and Lincoln; as well as her stepchildren Mark, Jane, and Loria and their children Emma, Anna, Tyler, Regan, and Aurora.

Visitation will be 1:00 until service time Thursday, January 22, at Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs,

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, at Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs with Bro. Ben Jones officiating, burial will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
