Verna Marie (Horn) Citty, age 94 of Sparkman, formerly of Texarkana and Ozan, passed
away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock,
Arkansas. She was born on March 31, 1931, in Hope, Arkansas, to the late James Lewis and Martha Horn. She was the beloved wife of 70 years to the late William Henry “Billy” Citty.
She began her journey as a homemaker, pouring her heart into raising her son, James, and
being a loving wife to Billy. Later, she began working in various sewing factories for over 50 years. She loved to cook, sit in her porch swing and watch the hummingbirds, but most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends, most calling her “Mamaw,” and going to church. She was a member of Hickory Street Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, under the leadership of Pastor Tim Strebeck.
Verna is proceeded in death by her parents James Lewis and Martha Horn, husband, W.H.
“Billy” Citty, son James Citty, and daughter-in-law Martha Citty.
She is survived by her sister Bobbie Payne of Texarkana, grandson Michael Citty of
Sparkman, granddaughter Anna Ray and husband James of Sparkman, great-granddaughters Julie Ray and Shelby Ray both of Sparkman, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Saint Paul Methodist Church
Cemetery in Ozan, Arkansas, at 10 A.M. with Pastor Tim Strebeck officiating.
Arrangements are by Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville, Arkansas.
