Glenda Sue (Young) McCoy

May 1, 1944 — February 6, 2023

Nashville

Glenda Sue McCoy, age 78 of Nashville, Arkansas, passed from this life into her eternal home on February 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. Sue was born May 1, 1944 in Pike County, Arkansas, the oldest daughter of the late Herbert Young and Inez Cupples Young.

She was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church. She retired after 28 years of feeding her kids (as she liked to call them) from the Nashville School Food Service.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, George M. McCoy who she married on March 17, 1964. Together they have raised 4 children, Sherry McCoy of Texarkana, TX, Janice Jones of Nashville, AR, and Karen Sullivan and husband John of Nashville, AR and Darin McCoy and wife Karen of Nashville, AR along with 8 grandchildren, Wiley, Trenton, Mark Jr., Kathleen, Ethan, Brent, Jacob and Taylor and 7 great-grandchildren. Sue is also survived by two sisters, Della Spears and Bonnie Willis and many other friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Connie Kesterson and her grandson Garrett Jones.

She enjoyed spending her leisure time reading, working with her flowers, stitching beautiful embroidery pieces and gifted those pieces to those she held near and dear to her heart. Sue lived a fulfilling life as a loving wife, mother and mamaw. She loved everyone she met and was loved by everyone. She was a huge hugger and always had time to plant that kiss on your cheek. No one ever spread more love in one lifetime than she did.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dierksen Hospice for their tender loving care.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Feburary 10, 2023 in the Latimer Funeral Chapel in Nashville, with Bro. Bobby Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
