Obituary

Marsaile Francis “Pete” Gathright, age 92 of Nashville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in Nashville. He was born on September 26, 1930 in Saratoga, son of the late Glen and Delma King Gathright.

Pete was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nashville. He served his country in the United States Army. During this tenure, he fought in the Korean Conflict at Chosin Reservoir and was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He served as a Military Policeman. He prided himself upon having the opportunity of meeting General Douglas MacArthur. Later, he served in the Army Reserves. He was a proud soldier and had every right to be.

Pete was very active in his community. He was on the Nashville Police Department and was Assistant Chief. Later he was a Reserve Deputy for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department. Pete served as the Howard County Coroner for many years. Pete and his wife, Ann, owned PAG Broadcasting for many years. This was the home of KBHC, KNAS and KMTB radio stations. He served in the capacity of President on the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Pete and Ann enjoyed their farm at Buck Range and could often been seen traveling to the farm to see after their cattle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Annie Nell Gathright; his daughter Stacey Frances; and his son Rick Castleberry.

Survivors include his son Reggie (Kay) Gathright, Stephanie Griggs, Rhonda (Gerald) Moses; his daughter-in-law Connie Castleberry; his sister Clorene (Morris) Greathouse; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Howard Memorial Hospital and Dierksen Hospice for the excellent services and care they provided.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Nashville.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
