William H. “Buddy” Cox, age 76 of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born January 5, 1947 in Annapolis, Maryland the son of the late Floyla I. Cox and Margaret A. “Peggy” Artz Kirby.
Buddy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. He served four years in the United States Navy where he was stationed two years in Yokosuka Naval Base on a yard oiler and tugboat. Then served two Mediterranean tours on USS Forrestal stationed out of Norfolk, VA.
During his career he was a truckdriver, a carpenter, the Pike County Road Department foreman/mechanic, and a farmer. He served his community by being a volunteer fire fighter on the Murfreesboro Fire Department for fifteen years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Floyd Cox and his nephew Chad Chambers.
Survivors include his wife Nina Howard Cox, of Murfreesboro, AR; son Michael John Cox of Benton, AR; one sister Irene Chambers and husband Woody of Murfreesboro, AR; one nephew John Mark Cox and wife Brandi of Murfreesboro, AR; three nieces Anne Terrell and husband Jamie of Murfreesboro, AR, Amy Westfall and husband Jeff of Nashville, AR, and Milly Nuttle and husband Frank of Nashville, AR; as well as a number of great nieces, nephews, and friends.
